Let's Talk [About] Security

Welcome to the place for plain talk about computer security issues. If you have been listening to the network news, reading the paper or your favorite magazine, you'll have been exposed to dozens of broadcasts and articles telling you about the latest threat to your personal computer with dire warnings about the safety of your personal financial information, your identity, your family's personal security and your credit rating. And then there is the SPAM!  You know, junk e-mail.

The news headlines are designed to get your attention.  The information is sometimes sensational and sometimes overstated.  The suggestions on how to protect yourself are many times incomplete or too technical to implement.  Sometimes you just want to turn off your PC and lock out the rest of the world.

But fear not...in the articles that follow, I'll guide you through everything you need to know to protect yourself and your family so that you may enjoy cruising the internet, reading and writing email and generally having a good time with your personal computer. Please take a look at the article listings below and select the topic you are most interested in.
